Nonprofits -Stop Talking Big Data; Start Thinking Data Culture
June 13, 2019 10:09 pmThis is the time for nonprofits to invest in building and maintaining a secured data culture. According to a recent survey, 31% of organizations claim they are data-driven, which is down from 32% last year.
To build a data-driven culture, philanthropic and nonprofit organizations should consider personal and professional data as their major business asset, which can help them centralize data governance to promote marketing efforts.
Organizations should develop a data strategy task force, where they can start with cross-functional teams to work together to build shared data practices.
Then, they identify their data management practices and create a roadmap for data management optimization. They also need to be transparent and share workplace culture, which includes their vision, mission and values.
Lack Of Opportunity For Career Growth Driving Premature Resignations In Nonprofits
June 13, 2019 9:47 pmA question in a Nonprofit Talent Retention Practices survey asks, “What are the primary reasons for voluntary turnover at your organization?”
51 percent of survey takers chose this answer, “Lack of opportunity for upward mobility/career growth,” as their number one reason for leaving a role.
Voluntary North American-based nonprofit turnover data were made available for the first time during a recent Nonprofit HR webinar. Benefits (48 percent), dissatisfaction with current organizational culture (26 percent), and family issues (25 percent) ranked as other top reasons for voluntary employee departures.
Nonprofits should be taking advantage of, the “stay interview,” where practicing effective talent retention can reduce “dissatisfaction, disengagement, and ultimately departure.”
